Lila Kirtana has been involved with running yoga retreats for the past 9 years both in Sydney and Byron Bay, and for the last 6 years she has primarily worked as a senior teacher trainer, retreat manager and massage therapist at the Byron Yoga Centre. Since becoming a mother 2 years ago, Lila has missed having the opportunity to attend yoga retreats as she was unwilling to be separated from her daughter and yet couldn’t find anywhere that catered for children on retreat too. Realising that there was a desperate need for a Family Yoga retreat in order to rejuvenate and restore tired parents everywhere, she decided to put her retreat management skills to use and create her own. This is it – the Nurture and Nourish Family Yoga retreat. Lila will be teaching a variety of classes, including Restorative yoga, Partner yoga, Thai Yoga Massage, and Mums 'n Bubs or Mums ‘n Toddler classes. She is also trained in Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga, and Yoga Therapy.

Mal Knights is also a Byron Yoga Centre trainer and will be teaching dynamic classes in the morning, a class specifically for the men only, and facilitating the Men’s sharing group. Mal has been teaching yoga for over 6 years, with a focus on Yoga for Surfers and Yoga for Mental Health, and is a regular teacher and presenter on Yoga Therapy courses as well as teaching a weekly class at the Byron Yoga Centre. All Mal's classes have a strong focus on breathwork, meditation, being present, and incorporating the limbs of yoga. He is also a beautiful flute player and a dedicated member of the enCHANTed kirtan band.

Nevena Krups In her early 20’s Nevena’s interest in the wisdom and philosophy of ancient teachings and practices sparked her curiosity for Yoga. After attending a couple of Yoga classes she noticed the transformational effects they had on her body, mind and life. Since then, studying and teaching Yoga have become heartfelt dedications of hers. Nevena’s life has always been led by her desire to create well-being and to increase the quality of life for those around her. After obtaining her Master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies and completing her Yoga Teacher training in 2012 she went on studying Psychology and is soon commencing her training in Yoga Therapy. When not on her mat she's blissfully off to adventures with her baby boy Eddie exploring nature, crafting or making music and always looking out for inspiration and new experiences.

The retreat will have different yoga instructors teaching each day to ensure a variety of classes. Early morning classes will be more dynamic, while afternoon classes will be restorative, sometimes with live music. One morning class each day will be specifically for parents and kids together. Options include Hatha, Power Vinyasa and Kundalini Yoga classes, Thai Yoga Massage and Partner yoga, and one class specifically for the men only. Each evening after dinner will be a Yoga Nidra guided relaxation, sound bath, talk, meditation or a movie to chill out to. The schedule is flexible and we’re open to suggestions as to how it would suit your family better! If you are an experienced yoga teacher, then you are invited to share and teach a class on the retreat which would discount your family’s costs.

Whilst teaching at a brain balance centre, helping students with difficulties I realised that most of my teachings were yoga teachings, so I decided to go on and become a yoga teacher”.
